LC8c camshaft wear (cam lobe / cam follower wear)
CatastrophicOccasionalKTM acknowledged premature camshaft wear on a population of 2018-2020 790 Duke and 790 Adventure engines, attributed to marginal oil supply to the cam followers. KTM addressed this via a non-recall goodwill program (announced via a KTM Facebook statement, July 18, 2024) rather than a formal safety recall. The fix incorporated an additional oil strainer starting 2020 production and wider cam followers from 2021 production.
