What breaks first and where.
Wiring harness rubbing on fuel tank / ignition switch corrosion / battery ground corrosion (three-part electrical recall)
SeriousRareSuzuki identified three related electrical defects on DL1000A/AA motorcycles: (1) the wiring harness may contact the bottom of the fuel tank due to improper routing, and vibration can wear the insulation, exposing bare wire and creating a short; (2) the ignition switch connector terminals can corrode if splashed with corrosive liquid (e.g. salt water), potentially preventing the engine from being switched off or causing loss of electrical power; (3) the battery ground connection may develop poor conductivity due to corrosion or a weak connection to the painted crankcase surface. Any of the three can cause the engine to stall while riding. The recall production range covered 2014-2015 model year units, plus 6 additional 2016-model-year units built to the same wiring-harness routing.
