Field repair

Throttle wire clasp repositioning (SAF-2024-03 procedure)

  1. 01Locate the throttle wire and the three rubber clasps (labeled A, B, C in the bulletin) near the handlebar/steering area.
  2. 02Turn the handlebars fully left and right, noting how the throttle wire bends with the current clasp configuration.
  3. 03Remove and discard rubber clasp 'B'.
  4. 04Undo rubber clasp 'C', remove the throttle wire from it, then redo the clasp so the throttle wire and other cables remain within retaining bracket 'D'.
  5. 05Move rubber clasp 'A' down approximately 1.5 to 2.5 inches to the position shown in the bulletin diagram.
  6. 06Turn the handlebars fully left and right again and check for excessive bending of the throttle wire; adjust clasp 'A' further if needed to lessen bending.

Throttle wire may bend excessively and break

SeriousOccasional

CFMoto determined at the factory level that the throttle wire on some model year 2023 Ibex 800 T and 800 S motorcycles may bend excessively and break, resulting in loss of throttle response, limited engine RPM, and/or engine stalling. The defect stems from a configuration of three overly tight rubber clasps that secure the throttle wire and cause it to bend excessively during steering maneuvers. All subsequent (post-fix) production had the clasps repositioned at the factory for MY2024.

Symptoms

  • Loss of throttle response
  • Limited engine RPM
  • Engine stalling

Field repairableYes — Dealer procedure: remove one rubber clasp, reposition remaining two clasps to reduce throttle-wire bending during steering; no special tools required per the CFMoto USA safety bulletin.
