The nine core modules cover what most riders carry. Custom modules cover what makes your expedition yours — drone kits, camera systems, fly fishing gear, climbing racks, scientific instruments. You pick the code and label. We laser-cut the Velcro-backed Cordura patch and ship it to you.

Why Custom exists

No two expeditions carry the same load.

Expedition OS keeps the core language stable. Nine reserved codes — T, M, W, C, F, E, D, P, S — mean the same thing to every rider using the system. That’s the shared grammar.

But every rider eventually carries something unique. A photographer runs a drone. A biologist runs sensors. A backcountry angler runs a fly rig. If we forced those into P1 Personal or C1 Camp, the system would blur.

Custom modules solve that. You extend the language with your own code — without polluting the codes everyone else relies on.

How Custom works

Four decisions. One patch on your setup.

Choose a code

Two characters. Your call. Cannot start with a reserved core letter followed by a digit.

Choose a label

The word that names it. Drone. Camera. Fly Fishing. Scientific Instruments.

Choose colour

Later phase. For now, colour matches the standard Cordura palette.

We laser-cut

Velcro-backed Cordura patch, laser-cut to your code, shipped to you.

A short list. Protects the shared language.

Reserved core codes

TMWCFEDPS

Only Expedition OS defines core module codes. These letters are reserved so the core language can expand later without collision.

What you can’t use

Custom codes cannot start with a reserved letter followed by a digit — T2, M3, C4 and similar are blocked. Reserved for future core expansion.

Character limit

Two characters at launch. May open to three later once we’ve seen how riders actually name things in the wild.
