The lesson
Six days, six nights. One pot, one spoon, one lid. That's when I understood weight budgeting.
What this module forces
C1 collapses shelter, sleep, and cooking into one system. Because they trade off against each other, and pretending they don't is what breaks your back at day six.
The questions this module asks
Can your shelter, bag, and mat handle the coldest night the trip could plausibly reach?
Is your cook system one-pot or multi-piece? (One-pot is the answer.)
What's the total weight of your camp system, and can your load-carrying platform handle it with margin?
Do you know how long it takes you to set camp in a hurry? (You should.)
The verdict
Green
One system, weight-audited, cold-tested, pitch time under 15 min.
Amber
System heavy or pitch time slow.
Red
Multi-piece cook kit, untested for cold, camp-set time unknown.
