Clearing a clogged fuel pump filter (fuel starvation / stalling)

  1. 01Remove the seat and fuel tank cover to access the fuel pump/sender flange on top of the tank.
  2. 02Disconnect the fuel line and electrical connector, then unbolt and lift out the fuel pump/sender assembly.
  3. 03Inspect the in-tank strainer/sock for white, mold-like manufacturing residue or debris; clean it with fresh fuel or replace the strainer if it is torn or heavily clogged.
  4. 04Reinstall the pump assembly with a new sealing gasket if available, reconnect the fuel line and electrical connector, and refit the tank cover and seat.
  5. 05Report the issue to a KTM dealer even after a field fix — many dealers cover this repair under warranty as a documented, known issue.
