What breaks first and where.
Throttle wire may bend excessively and break (shared platform recall, 2023 production)
SeriousOccasionalCFMoto determined at the factory level that the throttle wire on some early-production 800-series motorcycles (Ibex 800 S/T for the US market; equivalent 800MT Touring/Sport for other markets) may bend excessively and break due to three overly tight rubber clasps securing the wire, causing it to bend excessively during steering maneuvers. This can cause loss of throttle response, limited engine RPM, and/or engine stalling. All subsequent (post-fix) production had the clasps repositioned at the factory. The formally recalled population (NHTSA 24V-609) covers 2023-model-year Ibex 800 S/T units in the US; the Dutch and Australian equivalents extended a comparable throttle-wire fix to 2023 800MT Touring/Sport models built on the same platform.
Symptoms
- Loss of throttle response
- Limited engine RPM
- Engine stalling
Field repairableYes — Dealer procedure: remove one rubber clasp, reposition remaining two clasps to reduce throttle-wire bending during steering; no special tools required. This is described in the manufacturer bulletin as a dealer/warranty repair, but the steps themselves are simple enough to be field-repairable with basic tools if parts/clasps are on hand.
Engine support mounting bolts under-torqued (Australia market recall, 800MT Touring)
SeriousRareOn a batch of 2023 800MT Touring units in Australia, the engine support mounting bolts may not have been tightened to the correct torque at the factory, potentially causing them to loosen and detach. If this occurs, the bolt can obstruct the rear foot brake pedal, reducing braking performance.
Symptoms
- Loose or detached engine mounting bolt
- Obstructed rear brake pedal travel
- Reduced braking performance
Field repairableYes — Dealer/owner can verify and re-torque the engine support mounting bolts to specification; described in the recall as free dealer verification, but is a straightforward torque check achievable with a torque wrench.
