Every White Rim trip requires a permit. Motor vehicles must be either a registered street-legal motorbike or a high-clearance low-range 4WD; ATVs, UTVs and OHVs are prohibited.

A journey without the correct permit or eligible vehicle is not a valid White Rim itinerary, and weather or Green River flooding can also break the loop.
